Death

Song of the Week
The Philosopher - Death

Death is without a doubt one of the most iconic heavy metal bands in history.
Headed by Chuck Schuldiner, who is perhaps the greatest metal guitarists of all time, Death had and increadible
lineup of musicians, with Steve Digorgio being their amazing bass player (and a personal inspiriration of mine).
This song comes from their fifth album, Individual Thought Patterns, and is about Chuck's dislike of the field of philosophy.
I find this song particularly interesting because of this subject matter, as I disagree with him. I believe philosophy
is a field that can add a lot of value and perspective to our lives, along with insight to the world we live in and the people around us.
Though I have a lot of thoughts about the topic, I will leave it there. Despite my thoughts, I still think this song is fantastic
in a way few songs are. Death is a very special band, and they will be venerated as one of the best of our time.
