An interesting trend I have noticed in my life is that as time has gone on, though my interest has never waned much for some of my favorite characters, others gradually fall out of favor with me.
This is a normal process that is bound to happen every once and awhile, but one character that has particularly fallen away form me is Spider-Man. This character has gone from being one of my favorites
from when I was a boy to being regarded with complete indifference.
As with some of the other characters, I think some of this is just a natural change in tastes and preferences, but a big part of this has been that I revile the most recent MCU portrayal.
Tom Holland is not bad himself, but the movies and story that has been chosen for him are abysmal. I remember that when the Homecoming movie was being advertised, the promotion proudly presented
that it would not "rehash" Spider-Man's backstory. This would be fine since we had seen it many times at this point,
but the phrasing that was often used was misleading. It wasn't like the 2022 Batman film where it was assumed that the audience knew the story and hinted at it rather than show it to the audience again,
but rather, Peter Parker's relationship with Uncle Ben was made a complete non-factor in his story, to the point that he practically did not exist.
This is only one example of how poor of an adaptation the MCU's Spider-Man is, to the point that it might as well not even be the same
same character.
